Mr. Medina is the head band director at Elgin Middle School. He is a native of San Antonio, TX. In 2004, he received his Bachelors of Music from the School of Music at The University of Texas in Austin where he studied saxophone with Harvey Pittel and participated in the Longhorn Band and other UT concert ensembles. He began teaching at Elgin Middle School in 2021.
Mr. Medina’s teaching experience began in San Antonio ISD at Rhodes Middle School in '04. At Rhodes, they achieved their first Sweepstakes award at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest. He also worked as an Assistant Band Director at Brackenridge HS. At the Edgewood I.S.D. in San Antonio, he was hired as the head band director at Kennedy HS and the band achieved its first straight-1st divisions at their U.I.L. Concert & Sight Reading Contest in 2012. He was then hired as the Head Band Director at San Jacinto Intermediate School in Pasadena I.S.D., which the band also earned 1st Divisions including a Sweepstakes award at the U.I.L. Concert & Sight Reading Contest.

Since his time began at Elgin Middle School, the program has increased in membership. They have also received 1st Division ratings at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading performances, including a UIL Sweepstakes in 2024.
Mr. Medina’s principal instrument is saxophone. He is a member of Texas Music Educators Association. When he is not teaching, Mr. Medina enjoys his time with family and friends, traveling, live concerts, and hiking.

Mr. Morris is entering his 8th year as a band director. He is a native of Katy, TX and received his Bachelor’s of Music Education from Baylor University in 2015. While at Baylor University, Mr. Morris studied euphonium with Dr. Kent Eshelman and participated in the Baylor University Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, as well as the University Men’s Choir. Mr. Morris also served as the President of Baylor University’s chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia which doubled in size during the 4 years he attended the university.
Mr. Morris started his teaching career in the Houston area where he worked for 3 years and his bands grew and experienced success both in their UIL performances and in their school concerts and region band results. He then moved to the Austin area in order to be closer to friends and worked at 2 charter schools as well as teaching private low brass lessons. Mr. Morris is very excited to have found his new home at Elgin Middle School and will be going into his 3rd year at the school where the band program has grown and experienced improvements every year and he is excited to see that trend continue!
In his free time, Mr. Morris enjoys spending time with family and friends, going hiking and rock climbing, and playing video games.
